Why you need a Sound Engineer at your wedding

We've all seen it, even at popular wedding venues. Their AV system consists of a CD or Bluetooth Hi-Fi, that's left to be operated by a guest (that was me at my sister's wedding!). There are no microphones, or if there are, there are cables trailing everywhere, and it's yet another hassle for the bridesmaids and groomsmen to worry about. For outdoor ceremonies, where weather can be unpredictable, this means that words can be lost, and guests miss the most important part of the day.
A lot of wedding bands are more than capable of setting up a simple PA and making things work, but they're likely mixing their sound from the stage, so chances are they can't actually hear what they sound like on the dancefloor. Ask any musician, and they'll say that they'd much rather have someone else dealing with the technicals, so they can focus on their own performance.

That's where a Sound Engineer can save the day. They work in some of the worst
sounding rooms out there (old churches are notorious for long echoes), so they know how to achieve intelligible speech in demanding conditions. They work their magic behind the mixing desk to make a good band sound great. They'll also be on hand to sort out any technical difficulties, and you won't even know they're there, allowing you and your guests to truly enjoy the day.
It's certainly possible to have a successful wedding without a sound engineer, but having a professional on hand will elevate the production value, and make a great day truly unforgettable.
